The Fergus Falls Chapter of AAUW is sponsoring an ice cream social at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 in NP Park. Potential members can learn about the group.

Membership is open to women who hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university. AAUW promotes breaking through educational and economic barriers so all women have a fair chance.

The local chapter provides scholarships to area students and sponsors programs that encourage girls to become involved in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

In addition to monthly meetings, AAUW sponsors book discussions, a fall cultural trip, and a bridge group. The annual Tour of Homes funds the group’s activities.

Anyone interested in AAUW is welcome to attend the ice cream social. In case of bad weather, the activity will be held in the Library Community Room.
