Grilled Cabbage

It’s fun to post this food blog and have people from good friends to strangers want to share recipes and food experiences with me.  Even more fun in the office when people bring in samples of new recipes they’ve tried!

Bernice is one of those great people that is always talking about something she and her husband, Tim, have made.  She’ll bring in leftovers to eat for lunch and copies of recipes and often treats for everyone!  She just never remembers to take a photo of her latest food finds until it’s all gone!

But this time she remembered to grab photos of her food before she dug in – so this recipe and photo is courtesy of Bernice and Tim Overland!

I know I can’t wait to try it – it sure smelled good when she brought in leftovers last week!  She served it with grilled pork chops.  I’m sure you can find lots of dishes this side would complement!

Grilled Cabbage

Serves 4


1 head cabbage
4 tsp butter
8 slices bacon
Spice Mixture:
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp pepper
2 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Cut cabbage into 4 wedges. Place each wedge on a piece of double heavy duty aluminum foil. Spread cut sides with butter. Mix spices together, sprinkle over each wedge. Wrap bacon around each wedge. Fold foil around cabbage, sealing each wedge tightly. Grill, covered over medium heat for about 40 minutes, turning twice.
