Hoot Lake Triathlon was a huge success

Thank you Fergus Falls.

On Saturday, July 27, the Fergus Falls Area Family YMCA held the 21st Annual Hoot Lake Triathlon. This year’s event was once again a huge success. This success really speaks volumes about the Fergus Falls Community and how it has stepped up and rallied around this great event. We could not put on a quality event like this without the teamwork of great volunteers, sponsors and the support of our community.

I would first off like to thank the Fergus Falls Community for supporting this local event. This year’s event had around 200 participants from10 different states and the country of Switzerland.

Many people travel to Fergus Falls from far distances to compete in this event and everyone from our local businesses to our residents welcome these participants with open arms.

An event like this takes many volunteers to ensure that everything runs smoothly and safely. This year we had over 50 volunteers that helped us with our event. These individuals were regular YMCA members, local residents, families with their children, and YMCA Board Members that put in a lot of time to make this all happen. Thank You for all your hard work. Volunteers, you are the heart of our organization.

Having great sponsors is also a big part of having a successful event. Our 25 sponsors were great supporters of the 2013 YMCA Hoot Lake Triathlon. Our title sponsors for this year’s event were Lake Region Healthcare, Central Lakes Cycle, Otter Tail Power Company and the City of Fergus Falls. Thank you for all that you did.

Thank you to all of our other race sponsors: Precor, LifeFitness, Fergus Falls Chiropractic, LifeSmiles Dental, Red Horse Ranch Arena, AmericInn Lodge & Suites, The Schwan Food Company – Fruchi, Culligan Water- Elbow Lake, Lakes Radio, Shore Master, Viking Coca Cola, Service Food, JK Sports, Ringdahl Ambulance, Mortenson Outdoor Sign, HK Painting, Fargo Running Company, Scheels, GNC, NOTS and the Daily Journal. Thank you, sponsors.

It is great to see our community entities working together and I would like to also give a special thanks to the City of Fergus Falls Public Works Department and Police Department for their extra work and effort to ensure participant safety out on the race course.

The YMCA Hoot Lake Triathlon is a product of months of planning and organizing and hours upon hours of set up. Much of this work is done by the YMCA Management Staff Team so I need to say that I appreciate all that they do. Great job, team.

Planning has already begun on the 2014 YMCA Hoot Lake Triathlon to enable use to grow and improve upon past years. Once again, thank you Fergus Falls community, volunteers and sponsors. We could not have done this without your help.
