PRCA Rodeo sets attendance record

It was a record-setting attendance weekend for the ninth annual Red Horse Ranch PRCA Rodeo. Nearly 8,500 went through the gates over the weekend to watch some of the country’s top rodeo athletes in bareback riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, saddle bronc, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding.

The hillside and bleachers were packed with just under 3,000 fans who made it out Friday, while Saturday had a bigger turnout with 5,500 fans.

For the fourth year in a row, it was Team Mule-Skinner of Frazee that won Friday’s “Wild Cow Ride,” where local teams of three competed to be the fi rst to saddle and ride their cow across the fi nish line.

Saturday was “Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night,” where fans and participants turned out in pink to show their support for breast cancer awareness and education. Two dollars from each ticket sold was donated to the Lake Region Hospital Foundation Cancer Care and Research Center.
