“August 30, 1863: All commenced as though the army was a clock and when one wheele moved all must move to cross this great streem and we expect to meet with great opossition…….”
When Eben Corliss wrote that passage, misspellings and all, in his Civil War diary he was preparing to cross the Tennessee River. His premonition of great opposition would soon come true. His involvement in the momentous battle at Chickamauga would change his life.
Anyone with a computer can now follow the details of Eben Corliss as he prepares for and participates in the Battle of Chickamauga. The Otter Tail County Historical Society is tweeting his diary as it happened 150 years ago. Follow the experiences of Private Ebenezer E. Corliss, Fergus Falls resident and first Otter Tail County Attorney, on Twitter @PvtEbenECorliss.
