Classes continue at Kennedy despite loss of power WednesdayPublished 10:57am Thursday, September 5, 2013
The power went out at Kennedy Secondary School during the noon hour Wednesday but emergency lights allowed classes to continue until power was restored, according to principal Dean Monke.
Power went out in the Kennedy building and portions of Roosevelt around 12:15 p.m. but was restored shortly before 1 p.m.
“We’ve been working to complete a power transformer upgrade that services both of the facilities,” Monke said. “And because of that project not being quite complete, it may affect our ability to maintain power. And we must have hit a peak time right around the noon hour yesterday.”
Otter Tail Power and Otter Electric responded and were able to get the power restored. Because of the outage, the transformer project was completed yesterday afternoon.
Emergency power in both buildings provided partial lighting so classes could continue.
