The PioneerCare Corporate Board of Directors has appointed Nathan Johnson as administrator and chief executive officer.
“We are extremely pleased to have Nathan positioned at the helm,” said Brad Larson, PioneerCare’s board president. “His leadership qualities, strategic thinking, connection to the community and passion for the mission are valued assets he brings to the organization.”
After assuming the interim role in March, Johnson pulled together seven PioneerCare staff to join him as a leadership team. The team is now permanent and represents the organization’s multiple facets. Team members include Lona Bach, director of human resources; Brad Bushinger, director of environmental services; Steve Guttormson, director of marketing and development; Paulette Hoebelheinrich, housing director for PioneerCare Suites and Pioneer Pointe; Heather Nelson, Pioneer Cottages director; Sara Watkins, assistant administrator and director of nursing; and Carla Wolf, chief financial officer.
“PioneerCare has been standing tall for 85 years, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” Johnson said. “While it very well may be that careful management and strong community support has contributed to PioneerCare’s many successes over those years, we are frequently reminded that its mission is much larger than any one of us alone. It just so happens that today, we are the ones called to serve.”
Johnson first joined PioneerCare in May 2008. Before joining PioneerCare, Johnson served as administrator at Good Samaritan Society in Barnesville from 2001 to 2008. He completed an internship in healthcare administration at Good Samaritan in Battle Lake, and earned his bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Concordia College. He completed his master’s degree in healthcare administration in August.
