UW events build enthusiasm [UPDATED]Published 9:29am Thursday, September 5, 2013 Updated 11:30am Thursday, September 5, 2013
After exceeding last year’s goal, the United Way of Otter Tail County has raised its campaign target for 2013 to $320,000. It is great to see organizations like the United Way reaching for more and accomplishing their goals because of local support. It is important for residents to give back to the community, and while there are many worthy organizations to support, the United Way is an excellent place to start for anyone who is unsure where to give.
The organization allows local programs to focus on providing services to the community rather than raising money. The United Way of Otter Tail County helps fund more than 30 partner programs that provide services to those in the area on a local level with a focus on education, income and health. Funding to the United Way is guaranteed to affect the lives Otter Tail County residents.
To help generate buzz around the campaign, the United Way is throwing several kickoff events throughout the county. All who are interested in giving to the United Way or want to learn more about the organization are encouraged to check them out.
Sept. 11 – Pelican Rapids Campaign Kickoff Breakfast, 7 a.m. at the VFW
Sept. 12 – Fergus Falls Leadership Breakfast, 7 a.m. at PioneerCare
Sept. 18 – Perham Campaign Kickoff Breakfast and Day of Caring, 7 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church
A growing United Way is a great sign for Otter Tail County. Residents are giving more, and as a result, local programs have more funds to help those in need. We hope this trend will continue and encourage everyone to pitch in.
