Hail storm brings damage, solicitors [UPDATED]Published 9:14am Friday, September 6, 2013 Updated 11:16am Friday, September 6, 2013
After a severe storm on Aug. 26, solicitors flocked into town with rumors of widespread home damage, according to the New York Mills Dispatch.
Different groups of solicitors were knocking on doors and offering roof estimates to residents. Only two solicitors stayed in town after they were informed that a city permit must be purchased for business going for to door within the city limits.
Photos of the hail that was measured nearly four inches across were posted on the Internet.
Residents also reported damaged cars and homes on websites. Trees, gardens and cornfields were also damaged.
Local insurance agents said they have had dozens of claims so far and they expect the number to increase as people inspect their roofs.
