Lavonne “Vonnie” (Jorve) Olson, 83, died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, with family by her side.

Vonnie was born in Jamestown, N.D., on Aug. 7, 1930, and graduated from high school in Battle Lake, where she met her husband.

Vonnie balanced family life and her career as a secretary at Centennial United Methodist Church in Roseville for 23 years, where she also was a volunteer wedding coordinator, assisting in nearly 300 weddings.

She was an avid volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, and Friends of Roseville Parks.

Vonnie cherished her family and friends, and enjoyed church, theater, concerts, travel and genealogy. She had lived in Roseville since 1958 and belonged to Roseville Lutheran Church for 50 years.

She was a loving, generous, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and friend-a true angel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bruce; a son, William Bruce Jr.; parents, Ted and Cleona Jorve; brothers, Theodore Jr., Duane, and Merton, and his wife, Betty.

She is survived by two children, Thomas Olson and Rebecca Thompson; grandchildren, Julie (Chad) Larson, Jonathan Olson, Michele Guindon, Mitchell (Rebekah Peterson), Grant, and Brett Thompson; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis (Sharon) and Gerald  (Karen) Jorve; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Ernest) Blew and Barbara (Gene) Denney; and extended family and special friends.

Memorials may be made to Roseville Lutheran Church, Friends of Roseville Parks, the American Cancer Society, or donor’s choice.

Visitation: Friday, Sept. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the church, and one hour prior to the service

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 W. Roselawn Ave.

Burial: Private burial is planned in Battle Lake
