Coming off a disappointing loss to Barnesville in week one, a regrouped and refocused Otter Tail Central football team traveled to Wadena-Deer Creek and recorded a 56-0 blowout victory.
The Bulldogs took control of the game early, putting up 29 points in the first quarter. OTC put up another 14 in the second quarter and blanked the Wolverines for a 43-0 split at the break. The first team defense did not give up a first down on the night.
The explosive scoring attack for the Bulldogs was led by quarter back Andrew Smith who had 106 yards rushing on 11 carries and found the end zone twice. Nick Tosdahl ran for 82 yards on 12 carries and hit three touchdowns. Cody Seedorf ran for 52 yards on eight carries with two scores.
Andrew VanErp also recorded a score for the Bulldogs after breaking a punt return for 40 yards.
Otter Tail Central pounded the turf on the night, rushing for 301 yards. They added three yards in the air for 304 total yards.
The Defense held the Wolverines to 119 yards on the ground and didn’t give up a single passing yard. The Bulldogs also took away two fumbles.
Vance Doll led the Bulldog defense with eight tackles on the night. Dan Marso followed up with five.
“We were a little disappointed after last week,” said Bulldog head coach Don Seipkes, whose team returned after a 37-14 loss to Barnesville last week. “We came out with some great intensity. It was a good win for us and we needed this game heading into our game against New York Mills next week.”
Otter Tail Central is now 1-1 heading into its game on the road against the Eagles. The game in New York Mills will kickoff next Friday at 7 p.m.
