PELICAN RAPIDS — The Vikings’ Emily Bakken was able to use a home course advantage to breeze by the competition on the way to a first place finish Monday as Pelican Rapids hosted a home meet at Birchwood Golf Course.
Bakken finished with a time of 16:34, followed by Megan Olson (16:54) of Park Rapids and Teammate Tianna Wald (16:55).
Park Rapids won the girls meet with a score of 30. The Vikings claimed runner-up honors with a 47 and Frazee rounded out the top three.
The Vikings also saw great times from Charlotte Johnson (18:36, 13th), Angie Furey (19:12, 16th), Emma Hoover (19:14, 17th), Ashlyn French (19:43, 20th), Abby Johnson (19:47, 22nd), Hope Cardwell (20:20, 24th) and Alexa Bekkerus (20:47, 29th).
In boys action, the Vikings (59) came in third, behind winner Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (42) and Park Rapids (55).
Mahad Aden led the Viking boys with a time of 18:45 for sixth, followed by teammate Gavin Hart in seventh with a time of 19:15. Pelican also saw Tristan Wald (19:37, 11th) and Alejandro Romero (19:54, 12th) place in the top 12 at the meet.
