M State showcases health care, STEM programs [UPDATED]Published 10:06am Wednesday, September 18, 2013 Updated 12:08pm Wednesday, September 18, 2013
What organisms are lurking in your mouth?
High school students can discover that and more on Friday, Sept. 27, during the Health Care and STEM Showcase on the Fergus Falls campus of Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
The day-long showcase will show students the opportunities and majors that are available to them at M State – Fergus Falls Campus in the areas of health care, science, technology, engineering and math. Area high school instructors have been invited to bring their students, and students can also attend on their own.
Thanks to local community support, funds are available to pay for transportation costs for area high schools.
The showcase begins at 9:30 a.m., and lunch will be provided. Students can choose from the following hands-on informational sessions:
• Equine chiropractic and acupuncture
• Unwind your DNA
• Forensic chemistry
• Mouth flora
• Horse care and handling
• Nursing and health care
• Shocking electrostatic and electromagnetism
There will also be a judged poster contest with prizes for interested students and a career forum featuring scientists and health care professionals, who will be ready to answer questions about careers and education.
