Pellegrino, Franco lead Comets to 14-0 victory

It was another big win for the Hillcrest Lutheran Academy/Pelican Rapids Comets on Tuesday evening. The Comets continued to roll with its momentum, dominating the Pirates 14-0.

It only took a minute for Hillcrest to get on the scoreboard, with Kevin Franco scoring off a pass from Chris Larson to beat the Pirate Keeper. Franco scored again at 12 minutes off of a pass from Eduardo Urbano after the Comets attack built on the right side of the goal. He would get score number three and the hat trick just 15 minutes into the game, with another assist from Urbano.

Chris Pellegino joined in on the scoring a minute late after he scored from the left off an assist from Gunnar Saevig. He scored again a minute later off an assist from Urbano. He would get the hat trick off another assist from Urbano just another minute later.

At 24 minutes, Sondra Harila bent a shot into the goal from 35 yards after receiving a throw in from Chris Franco. Gjermond Saevig scored at 27 minutes off an assist from Danny Franco. Franco added a goal of his own at the 33 minute mark, with the assist going to Kevin Franco. With just a minute left in the half, Kevin Franco put in his fourth goal off an assist from Sondra Harila, giving the Comets a 10-0 lead at the half.

Nine minutes into the second half, Pellegrino notched his fourth goal off a rebound shot taken by Comet Chris Larson. Harila added to the score at the 60 minute mark, kicking in a drop back pass from Kevin Franco. Two minutes later, Joey Coronado scored attacking up the left side after Franco hit him with a pass. The final goal of the game was put in by Vegard Schjederup, with assists going to Franco and Tommy Thompson.

Comet keeper Abdul Ahmed recorded another shutout for HLA/PR, stopping a perfect five out of five shots on goal.

The Comets travel to Walker-Hackensack-Akeley/CL-B for a 3:30 match up Thursday against the Wolves.
