Blood drive successful because of willing donors [UPDATED]Published 10:15am Friday, September 27, 2013 Updated 12:16pm Friday, September 27, 2013
The Red Cross Blood Drive was in Fergus Falls on Sept. 18, 19 and 20. The Blood Drive coordinators truly appreciate the donors who came in those days, especially the first-time donors. We collected 196 units of whole blood. Also, 96 double red cell units were donated for a total of 292 units of blood. Many are blessed with the gift of life because you have taken the time to give and care.
Thank you to the Fergus Falls National Guard for the use of their armory facilities, Lake Region Healthcare maintenance crew for help unloading and loading equipment, Pat Griffin and Sentence-to-Serve for setting up on Wednesday, Otter Tail Telcom for use of a cell phone, Lakes Radio,
The Daily Journal, the Battle Lake Review and the Shopping News for the publicity.
Thanks to Midwest Printing for making our signs, thanks to the City of Fergus Falls and willing residents for letting us put our signs up on their property.
We also thank our dependable volunteers who delivered posters, called donors, who brought bars and cookies, and worked at the Blood Drive. We also want to acknowledge the Keebler Company for always donating to the Red Cross the snacks for the donors after they give blood. The coordinators could not do this Blood Drive without you!
Put on your calendar now that our next drive will be Jan. 15, 16 and 17, 2014. Please call us in January to offer to donate blood.
