Bikes the focus of physical activity month at hospitalPublished 6:04am Monday, September 30, 2013
Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) is marking October as Physical Activity Month at the organization to promote physical activity amongst employees and to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Phatty Nattie’s and LRH joining forces.
Numerous activity incentives throughout the month are being offered in hopes they will carry over in to employees daily routines.
In addition, LRH is also seeking to become a League of American Bicyclists “Bicycle Friendly Business.” Part of this effort involves education for staff and the community on bicycling topics. On Wednesday, from noon to 12:30 p.m. and again from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., a League Cycling instructor (LCI) will be hosting a free lunch and learn open to the public. This session will be held in the LRH Lower Level Conference Rooms A and B.
A second, progressive lunch and learn is planned from noon to 12:30 p.m., and again from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in LRH Lower Level Conference Rooms C and D.
Even if you are not a bicyclist, feel free to attend as there will be pertinent information about motorists and bicyclists sharing the road.
The LCI’s will also be hosting a free tire-changing demonstration at Athletic Republic at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Wednesday, Oct. 23, followed by a group bike ride around town at 6 p.m.
