33-year-old sentenced for DWI

Amund Benjamin Haarstad, 33, of Dalton, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Sept. 12 in Otter Tail County District Court to 365 days in jail, with 335 days to be stayed for six years, for gross misdemeanor DWI. In exchange for the plea, an additional count of gross misdemeanor DWI was dismissed.

According to the criminal complaint, Haarstad was pulled over for speeding on U.S. Hwy. 59 at 1:16 p.m. Aug. 3. A preliminary breath test showed Haarstad’s alcohol concentration to be 0.207.

Haarstad also has a DWI conviction from May 2, 2006.
