MINNEWASKA — The Brandon-Evansville

volleyball team was able to overcome a slow start to finish 2-2 at the Minnewaska Tournament Saturday.

In its opening match, the Chargers fell to Osakis 25-10, 25-13. The second match would not get any easier as B-E took on a tough Perham team. After a close 26-24 loss in set number one, the Yellowjackets were able to cruise to a two-set victory with a 25-15 win.

Charger coach Kelly Olson was able to rally the girls in game three as the Brandon-Evansville girls split with Benson 25-23, 14-25.

In the final match of the tourney, the Chargers won outright, defeating the Hancock Owls 25-23, 25-15.

“It always a challenge to play against good teams in a division higher than yours,” Coach Olson said. “I was hoping for a better showing today because we have had some good practices and have done well in stretches in our matches. We are an athletic team who needs to start working as one unit who can go onto the court and get the job done.”

The Chargers will once again take on the Owls as they host the Hancock team Monday at 7:30 p.m.
