Casey’s on Vernon Avenue expands hours

Published 10:52am Tuesday, September 24, 2013

People with a late-night or early-morning hankering for pizza now have one more location to consider.

Casey’s General Store, located at 625 E. Vernon Ave., is now open 24 hours a day, even days a week.

The expanded hours went into effect Sept. 15. Previously, the store was open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Since the change, there has been an increase in gas purchases and other items during the new hours, according to Store Manager Janet Muehlberg.

“This weekend picked up with people coming in to get pop and cigarettes,” Muehlberg said.

The decision to expand was made by Casey’s corporate offices.

Other convenient store franchises, such as Holiday, have 24/7 locations, which Muehlberg said may have played a part in Casey’s making the move.

Casey’s now makes pizza 24 hours a day as well. To fill the new hours, Casey’s hired four new employees.

Although the other Casey’s General Store in Fergus Falls, located at 1232 N. Union Ave., has not yet gone to 24-hour service, store manager Bonnie Bauman said that is ultimately the plan.

No date has been set for expanding the hours at the Union Avenue location.
