Chargers edge Rockets in five setsPublished 9:19am Friday, September 6, 2013
EVANSVILLE — The Underwood Rockets have played 10 tough sets in the past two games — they just don’t have a win to show for it.
On Thursday, the Rockets saw the Brandon-Evansville Chargers steal away a five-set victory 22-25, 25-19, 15-25, 25-11, 15-11.
“If we are going to win under pressure we need to pass the ball better, which will improve our attack,” Rocket coach Diane Ross said. “The Chargers had some tough hitters that we struggled with and they played a good match. We will continue working on improving.”
Mariah Hansen led the Chargers with 19 digs and 11 kills in the victory.
“This was a great win to be a part of because I think the girls learned a little about how to bounce back, and what hustle can do for you because without that hustle we probably do not win this match,” Charger coach Kelly Olson. “Underwood did a great job keeping us off balance tonight.”
Underwood’s Kenzie Woodman recorded 17 digs, while teammate Jacey Ross had eight kills and 16 set assists in the match.
The Chargers will be back in action Monday as it travels to Ashby for a 7:30 p.m. conference bout, while the Rockets will play in Saturday’s Ada-Borup Tournament beginning at 10 a.m. against the Northern Freeze.
