Published 9:18am Friday, September 20, 2013

BARRETT – The West Central Area Knights volleyball team defended their home court on homecoming night in Barrett. The Knights dropped the visiting Ashby Arrows in four sets (25-19, 21-25, 25-19, 25-15)

The match started with both teams playing strong in the first set. Despite losing in the first, the Arrows carried over their defiant play to the second and took a victory. The Arrows continued in the third, but allowed the Knights to slowly take back control of the game until they took the third set and went on to take the fourth as well.

Alexis Ness led the Arrow offense with 12 kills. Cassandra Jordan led defensively with 17 digs. Amber Sundal contributed 16 assists on the night.

“I thought we had this game, especially with the momentum at the beginning of the third match,” Ashby head coach Andrea Knick said. “WCA did a great job of adjusting to us, and working around us.”

The Arrows travel to Ulen-Hitterdahl for a tournament on Saturday. The Knights will be back in action again at home against Browervill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
