A vehicle headed eastbound on Hwy. 34 crossed the center line and hit another vehicle head on east of County Rd. 23 at 3:08 p.m.

Janeen Virnala, 60, of Moorhead, died in the crash. She was a passenger in the vehicle that crossed the center line. The driver of the other vehicle, Steven Haiby, 47, of Pelican Rapids, was taken to Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes for non-life threatening injuries.

Both Virnala and Haiby were wearing seatbelts.
