One of the two suspects who robbed the General Nutrition Center in Fergus Falls in April was sentenced Sept. 23 in Otter Tail County District Court.

Alyssa Nicole Beard, 20, of Virginia Beach, Va., was sentenced to 18 months in prison, to be stayed for 10 years, and 10 years of supervised probation for felony simple robbery.

She pleaded guilty Aug. 26. In exchange for the plea, additional felony counts of first-degree aggravated robbery and second-degree aggravated robbery were dismissed.

According to Fergus Falls police, she and Jarrod Everett Birch, also from Virginia, were located in Nebraska and arrested April 22 in connection with at least six robberies in Virginia, Missouri, South Dakota and Minnesota in April.

According to the criminal complaint, Fergus Falls police received a theft-in-progress call at 12:45 p.m. April 20 at the GNC store at WestRidge Mall.

Beard and Birch reportedly stood at the counter, and Birch allegedly asked the employee to “calmly put the cash in the bag.”

The employee took money out of the register and put it in the bag. The duo reportedly left the store with between $150 and $200.
