PELICAN RAPIDS — Celebrating senior night and hosting a cancer awareness event called Volley for a Cure, the Vikings were unable to top the visiting Barnesville Trojans in a Heart O’Lakes COnference match 25-17, 25-20, 25-22.
The team joined forces in an effort to raise money for the fight against cancer. Paper volleyballs were sold in honor of and in memory of loved ones with the proceeds going to Essentia Cancer Foundation in Fargo.
Mackenzie Korf and Ariel Martinson led the Viking girls on defense with 19 and 14 digs, while Madeline Sytsman had three blocks in the game.
The Vikings finish the regular season with a 4-18-2 record and will await seeding in the Section 8AA playoffs.
