The Evansville Art Center will exhibit 100 works by Photographer and Artist, Candy Bohjanen-Hammitt through Dec. 7.
The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, also by appointment. A reception for the artist will be held Oct. 26 noon to 2 p.m.
She began with taking some acrylic classes at the Eagan Art House in 2003 as a respite from her job.
She began with realistic painting taken from photos of her travels to the 50 United States and Finland.
Water is a favorite theme depicting oceans and mountains. Her use of color comes from photos of nature and flowers.
She has developed into using mixed media and development of shapes. Impressionist and abstract styles have been explored. Most recently she has been working with collages and found items.
Bohjanen-Hammitt works with the Evansville Art Center, Brush and Palette, New York Cultural Center, and the Alexandria Art Works.
She had received grand championship awards on the several of her photos, and many ribbons in her work in the photography at Dakota County and Douglas County fairs.
Bohjanen-Hammitt also has received recognition in Art shows with People’s Choice and Merit ribbons.
