The Y’s Folk association October fund raiser for our YMCA will be over by the time you read this and like usual, it all went well under the direction of Carol Erlandson and her brother, Jim Dewey. Now we wait a couple of months or the next one which is the Cookie Sale on Wednesday, Dec. 4 being organized by Ruth DeMartelaere and Jo Weatherly.
The Y’s Folk get a little time off but the Y stays very busy.
Amber has the pool open daily for the old folks to swim and do water exercise and there are swimming lessons for everyone but you do have to sign up for those which are held on Tuesday and Thursday evening and again on Saturday.
You do have to register for them — see Amber. You can do Pilates and Yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays too — times are varied. Adults have Dodge Ball going on right now and Volley Ball starts in November – get a team together.
Who has more fun at Halloween than Kids and Goblins. Halloween party at the YMCA from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 25.
Parents — dress the kids up in costumes and let them have a fun night with treats and tricks at the Y.
The school age Child Care Program is on for kindergarten through sixth graders and may be three or five days per week.
You must sign up and register for this benefit. There is more. Get the September through December program guide at the Y.
The next Y’s Folk association meeting will be a potluck lunchen at noon on Oct. 21.
There will be a short business meeting along with another interesting program presented by the founder of the local “Oh so Special” Habitat for Humanity Christian Housing Mission.
Bob Worner will be with us to share his experiences with the beginning of the local chapter as president, board member and long-time volunteer dating back to 1991.
President Jimmy Carter started the international, non — governmental, non – profit organization in 1976.
Come hear Mr. Worner tell about it’s purpose and success of providing affordable shelter for people of all persuasions. Bring a friend.
Remember we play bridge and whist on Monday afternoons.
