Siemon uses Fergus YMCA to continue fitnessPublished 5:55am Monday, October 21, 2013
Stacy Siemon has been a long way from home for the past month or so, but she’s still in her “element” at the Fergus Falls Area Family YMCA.
The 22-year-old fitness guru from New Mexico has spent time with her aunt and uncle in Fergus and during her spare time works out hard at the facility to maintain her supreme level of fitness, health and well-being.
She’s a participant in a special “Fitness America” program, something she became involved in after being asked to do so by an acquaintance in Albuquerque.
Stacy is a paralegal during the day and wears four different outfits in Fitness America shows, donning two different color bikinis and sportswear, and is judged on her walk, poise, attitude, and muscle definition by 8 different judges.
She polishes her walk and poise over three hours a day and diets religiously. “In a way, you can feel sort of food-deprived over a period of time,” Stacy explains. “It’s kind of like a wrestler trying to make weight.”
Stacy says women between the ages of 18-35 compete in shows that are held literally all over the country. It’s time-consuming but well worth it, she says.
To set the foundation for her career in fitness, Stacy competed in cross country and swimming in high school, and she has worked religiously to maintain her level of fitness. She eats healthy with plenty of fruit, protein and carbs.
Stacy says Fergus Falls can be proud of its YMCA facility and says local folks should appreciate what they have here.
Her mother was in Fergus Falls briefly with her, but has since returned to their home in New Mexico. She says her mother has a keen interest in training and fitness as well as her three brothers,
Stacy left Fergus Falls on Wednesday to return to her family in New Mexico, and she’s carrying with her fond memories of her month in Fergus Falls and time spent at the YMCA.
