HENNING — Andrew Van Erp had seven tackles and an interception for the Otter Tail Central Bulldog football team in the first round of the Section 6AA playoffs. Van Erp led the Bulldog defense that kept the Long Prairie – Grey Eagle Thunder scoreless for nearly the entire game, as OTC won the game 47-8.
The Bulldog offense had 476 total yards on the night, over 300 more than the Thunder’s 154. Andrew Smith carried over his hard running from the regular season into the playoffs, as he carried the ball 11 times for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Nick Trosdahl had 103 yards on 12 carries. Dan Marso hauled in three catches for 66 yards.
Tyler Ukkelberg had three sacks on defense for the Bulldogs. He also blocked a punt.
“Our kids are playing well,” said Bulldog head coach Don Seipkes. “The offensive and defensive lines played really well. We are doing a lot good things.”
With the win, the Bulldogs travel to face the Breckenridge Cowboys, who shut out Wadena-Deer Creek 35-0 on Tuesday night.
“It is going to be a dog fight,” Seipkes said of the upcoming match up.
The game will start at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Breckenridge.
