WHEATON — Blake Ohren and the Ashby Arrows gave it their all against the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors, but the second-seeded Warriors were able to eek out a 54-46 win over the Arrows Tuesday in the Section 4 9-man playoffs.
“Our guys played every down with pride and heart tonight,” Arrow coach Jeff Risbrudt said. “They never gave up on each other and I am proud that our guys went out the way they did.”
Ohren led Ashby with six touchdowns, five through the air and one on the ground. The quarterback went 17 for 33 with 360 yards passing, while also rushing 23 times for 96 yards.
Reed Hanson caught only four balls for the Arrows, but three finished with him in the endzone as he racked up 160 yards receiving. Gage Olson was also impressive as he pulled down nine catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Hunter Fick was a monster in the middle as he recorded 26 tackles and forced a fumble.
The Warriors saw junior runningbacks Mason Deal and Paul Berger give the Arrows fits all evening as Berger finished with four rushing touchdowns and Deal slid past the goal line three times.
The Arrows end its season with a 2-7 record. The Warriors will host the Underwood Rockets in the section semifinal at 7 p.m. Saturday.
