Rockets survive in opening round of playoffs

UNDERWOOD — The Underwood volleyball team edged the Hancock Owls in the first round of the Section 6A tournament on Thursday night, taking the match in five close sets (25-20, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20,15-13).

Kaitlyn Holen led the Rocket offense with 24 kills. Abby Obright followed up with 12.

Kenzie Woodman led the defense with 23 digs. Holen followed with 22 and Obright had 18 of her own.

The Rockets jump above the .500 mark on the season with the win (15-14) and travel to face Wheaton/Herman-Norcross, who had a first round by. The game begins at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
