3 people injured in broadside crash near Vergas [UPDATED]

Three people were injured in a broadside crash involving a semi just east of Vergas Tuesday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A semi was headed eastbound on Hwy. 228 and was crossing Hwy. 10 at about 9 a.m. A Ford Windstar was northbound on Hwy. 10 in the right lane and it hit the right rear of the semi trailer in the northbound right lane of Hwy 10.

The 27-year-old Mahnomen driver of the Windstar was seriously injured and airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Her 2-year-old and a 6-month-old daughters in the van were taken to Perham Health for non-life-threatening injuries.

The 47-year-old Wahpeton driver of the semi was not injured.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office and Perham Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
