Erhard mayor resigns due to ‘differences’

Published 11:42am Friday, October 11, 2013

Neil Hunter resigned from his post as Erhard mayor earlier this month.

Hunter left office with less than two years left on his five-year term. Councilman Allen Backstrom is serving as acting mayor for the remainder of the term.

Hunter announced he was leaving because of “differences with council members” but did not elaborate further. He was in his first term as mayor, having been elected in 2010. He had previously served on the city council.

The Erhard City Council can name a replacement to Backstrom to serve through the November 2014 elections. The council will discuss plans for the vacancy at its Tuesday meeting, including potential names to fill the spot.
