Fireworks on city work session agenda Wednesday

Published 11:15am Tuesday, October 1, 2013

It will be a short agenda for the Fergus Falls Finance, Personnel and Development Committee at its meeting Wednesday.

Council member Ben Schierer and Nick Mariotti will discuss Fourth of July Fireworks. Mariotti is the branch manager at Affinity Credit Union, a business that pledged to donate $10 to help bring back fireworks for each story of kindness that was shared by community members at a recent event. At least 100 acts of kindness resulted in a $1,000 donation from Affinity.

The committee will also hear about a request from Ottertail Telcom to install fiber optic cable across city property to reach the Hoot Lake Power Plant site. The city would grant permission in the form of an easement, according to a memo from City Engineer Dan Edwards.

Finance Director Bill Sonmor will present 13 budget adjustments for 2013 to the committee. One of the items is increasing the public library budgets $12,161 for received donations.

The Finance Committee will meet at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the council chambers.
