Signs a classy visual

The gateway welcome sign dedicated Thursday near Applebee’s on the westside of Fergus Falls near Interstate 94, is classy, and we like the idea of the sign signaling entrance into the city.

Another six signs are also scheduled to be installed at various entrance points to the city.

We especially appreciate that public money wasn’t used. Instead, the entire $18,400 was raised through private donations. The Convention and Visitors Bureau held fundraisers, the Chamber contributed its share from raffle proceeds, and others, such as West Central Initiative Otter Tail Power, Moore Engineering, Lake Region Healthcare, America’s Best Value Inn, and Calla Lily Designs chipped in the remainder.

While we wonder about the benefits these signs will offer to the community, they are a great visual announcing entrance to Fergus Falls.
