PBS’s Downton Abbey preview slated Dec. 12 in Fergus Falls [UPDATED]Published 10:24am Thursday, November 14, 2013 Updated 12:26pm Thursday, November 14, 2013
Fans of the popular PBS drama Downton Abbey will have a chance to preview the first hour of Season Four at a special screening being sponsored by Pioneer Public TV and A Center for The Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 12 at the Fergus Theatre in downtown Fergus Falls. The event is free and open to the public and a limited number of tickets are available on a first come first served basis to those who call 218-736-5453 or who stop by A Center for the Arts at 124 West Lincoln Avenue in Fergus Falls.
Downton Abbey is an international television sensation created by Oscar winning writer Julian Fellowes. For the past 3 years, the program, (which airs on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on Pioneer Public TV ) has attracted a growing base of fans who tune in to watch the aristocratic Crawley family navigate a rapidly changing world just before WWI in England.
The show has inspired a nationwide interest in Edwardian era clothing and fashion, with top designers like Ralph Lauren offering gowns and tweed jackets based on the hit TV series. Audience members for the Dec. 12 preview event at the Fergus Theater are encouraged to dress up for an informal “fashion show” that will be part of the event.
The 2 hour full length premiere of Downton Abbey will be aired at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5 on Pioneer Public TV on Charter Channel 12, Ottertail Telecom Channel 15 and Arvig Channel 2.
“We are so excited to be able to work with Pioneer Public TV to offer this sneak preview of Downton Abbey to this region,” said A Center for the Arts executive director Michael Burgraff. “We hope we can pack the theater on Dec. 12 and have a festive, fashionable night on the town.”
