Three from WCA chosen for state choral conference [UPDATED]

West Central Area Schools will be sending three senior women to a memorable event that will honor the legacy of Minnesota choral music pioneer Alice T. Larsen, conductor of the St. Olaf College Manitou Singers from 1956-1983.  This one-time “honor” choir experience for grade 12 women is being scheduled as part of the 2013 State Choral Conference on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013.

The selected high school singers will be featured as a solo ensemble and as part of the festival combined choir featuring the St. Olaf College Manitou Singers under the direction of Sigrid Johnson, along with the combined concert choir women of Chanhassen, Wayzata and White Bear Lake high schools, all under the guest direction of Sigrid Johnson and Edith Copley, of Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff.

WCA seniors selected include Katie Poyzer (alto) Danna Sabolik (mezzo soprano) and Marissa Hayward (soprano)  They were chosen based on their four year participation in MSHSL contest and selection to regional honor choirs such as Concordia and NDSU.
