Veterans Home offered moving program for military veterans [UPDATED]Published 4:13am Monday, November 18, 2013 Updated 6:14am Monday, November 18, 2013
A very special and heartfelt thank you to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls for honoring those heroes who have defended our freedoms in such a heartfelt way.
I had the humbling opportunity to attend the Veterans Day services held at the home on Monday.
A special thanks to the VFW Post 612 and Ladies Drill Team, the American Legion Post 30 and MVH-FF Honor Guard, the Veterans Home Choir and to the wonderful speaker, Eric Marts. Words cannot describe the patriotism in that room and I can only say, that when it comes to celebrating Veterans Day, there is no greater place than a spot, where under one roof, so many heroes reside.
My Uncle Curtis, mustered out in 1946, and has just come to be a resident of the FF Veterans Home. I can say, without reservation, he is the happiest I have seen him in years, and was he very honored and moved by the ceremony, too.
It was a priviledge and an honor to be with so many who sacrificed and contributed to the enduring freedom that is America, the last, best hope on earth. God bless the peace keepers and may he continue to shed his grace on thee.
