M.A. Burris refuses to go to court [UPDATED]Published 11:33am Friday, November 22, 2013 Updated 5:43pm Friday, November 22, 2013
The former Fergus Falls man accused of killing his nephew last year, and also who allegedly tried, from an Arizona jail, to hire someone to kill three people, refused to go to a court appearance, according to a report from KFGO.
Michael Alan Burris, 65, was scheduled for a recent court appearance but refused to be transported to the hearing.
According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, Burris has been ordered by the court to be brought “by any means available” for a hearing later this week, the report said.
Burris is charged in Maricopa County Superior Court with felony conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
He’s been in jail since he was arrested Aug. 12 in Mesa, Ariz. for the murder of Scott Burris, who died from a single gunshot wound last year.
Michael Burris and his son, Michael Kyle Burris, 23, are both charged in Otter Tail County with felony second-degree murder.
Michael Alan Burris is fighting extradition, and the new charge in Maricopa County will delay the extradition to Minnesota, which he has been fighting.
