ST. CLOUD — The Fergus Falls girls hockey team could not get its scoring machine going Tuesday as the St. Cloud Icebreakers handed them a 5-0 loss.

The Icebreakers started out tally goals at the 5:50 mark as Samantha Eisenrich took an pass from Tatum Peterson and buried it in the Otter net.

Fergus was still playing a tough defensive front as the game rolled into the second period, but goals by Megan Milroy and Haley Hjort gave St. Cloud a comfortable lead.

The Icebreakers would add two more goals in the third period as they defended their home ice.

“We had a few break downs position wise that costs us a few goals,” Otter coach Matt Koalska said. “We will take tonight’s game and learn from it to prepare for our Thanksgiving Tournament.”

Fergus Falls netminder Katie Shelstad converted 34 of 39 save opportunities, while her counterpart, Allie Rosenkrans, blocked all 20 of the Otters shots.

The Otters will be back in action Friday as it takes on Henry Sibley in the team’s first game of its home tournament.
