Quality Toyota Sports Spotlight: Hauge: Underwood Rockets’ booting kicker

Published 9:44am Wednesday, November 27, 2013

Senior LeRoy Hauge has been a sure thing for the Underwood Rockets football team as its kicker and tight end.

Hauge and the Rockets will now prepare to bring home the school’s first ever football championship.

I caught up with Hauge to talk about

Q: What is your favorite subject?

A: My favorite subject is shop, because I am more of a hands on person and I would rather sit and build stuff then work on problems.

Q: What is something that you have created that you are proud of?

A: I built an end table, but now I am working on my fish house. I started completely from scratch. It’s going to be built out of 2×4’s and plywood, its just going to frame it up and I’ll start with the floor and work my way up.

Q: What are your plans for next year?

A: I plan on going over to Wadena for big machinery operator.

Q: What’s your favorite color?

A: Camo, because I like to go hunting.

Q: What do you like to do outside of school?

A: I like to go out four-wheeling, hunting, snowmobiling and fishing. It doesn’t really matter as long as I am outside.

Q: What kind of hunting do you do?

A: Bobcat, mountain lions, bear, coon, deer and I hope to go on an elk trip this year.

Q: You obviously ice fish, but which one do you prefer, ice fishing or summer fishing?

A: Probably ice fishing, because I can just stay out their all night and sleep out there, hang out with the buddies.

Q: What are you going to miss most about Underwood school when you graduate?

A: Our Rocket pride and having everyone know everybody. I will also miss the football team and my friends at school.

Q: What kind of music do you listen to?

A: Country

Q: Who is your favorite artist?

A: Luke Bryan or Kip Moore. Their songs pretty much describe me.

Q: If you had a million dollars what would you do with it?

A: Buy a nice house and truck and a lot of hunting property

Q: Are you a Ford or Chevy guy?

A: Ford.

Q: Why?

A: I just love the Ford. I grew up that way (laughs).
