CA can help navigate MNSure enrollment

Published 10:29am Thursday, November 14, 2013 Updated 12:32pm Thursday, November 14, 2013

While hosting our initial round community informational meetings in the area regarding MNSure, Minnesota’s new health insurance marketplace, one thing has become clear: people are confused.

They are confused as to what MNSure is; confused as to who is eligible for coverage through MNSure; confused how people get answers to their questions and assistance with enrollment.

As a “trusted community organization”, Communicating for America (CA), is hosting meetings in 20 communities throughout the area to help answer these and other questions.

We hope you are able to make it to one of our informational meetings, but in the meantime we would like to clear up some of the confusion.

First of all, MNSure is “a one-stop health insurance marketplace where individuals, families and small businesses will be able to get quality health coverage at a fair price.”

Individuals who purchase their own insurance as well as the uninsured and underinsured are eligible for coverage through MNSure. MNSure will facilitate enrollment in public and private health insurance.

MNSure is the only place where consumers can determine if they qualify for public programs, including Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare.

It is also the only place to determine eligibility for and receive premium tax credits. MNSure will allow Minnesotans to shop and compare between health care coverage options.

Additionally, both CA President Patty Strickland and Ben Schierer have been certified through MNSure as “navigators.”

The dictionary defines a navigator as “a person who finds out how (helps) to get to a place.” In this instance, that “place” is enrolling in a quality health insurance plan through MNSure.

Navigators will, at no cost to consumers, help Minnesotans find, compare and enroll in quality health care coverage that meets their needs and budget.

It is important to stress that there is no charge to the consumer for this assistance.

We know that many people will be looking for health insurance options and wondering whether they qualify for a premium tax credit.

MNSure can help. Please call 1-800-432-3276 or stop by our office at 112 E. Lincoln Avenue in downtown Fergus Falls and we will be able to answer your questions concerning what plans and programs you are eligible for through MNSure, along with what financial assistance, cost-sharing reductions and tax credits you qualify for.

We can also assist you in creating an account and enrolling in a plan through MNSure.
