Fisher advances at state swim meet

MINNEAPOLIS — Fergus Falls swimmer Abby Fisher was able to advance to day number two at the Class A swimming and diving meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center Tuesday.

Fisher qualified for the finals in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.22 for sixth place and will compete in the consolation finals in the 100 butterfly (1:00.35) finishing in 13th.

Teammate Emilie Reard competed in the 100 breaststroke, finishing with a personal best time of 1:10.36 for 19th place.

The Fergus Falls 400 freestyle relay team of Fisher, Reard, Dani Ross and Caitlyn Colbeck placed 21st in the event with a time of 3:51.93.

“We are proud of this team and what a great year we have had,” Otter head coach Tom Uvaas said. “It will be fun to cheer Abby on tomorrow. Congratulations to all the Otter girls who participated in the State A meet.”

The finals for Class A will begin at 12 p.m. Wednesday.
