With an up and down Little Eight Conference matchup, the Hillcrest girls were able to record its first win of the season as it held on to defeat the Ashby Arrows 51-48 Thursday.
“I am so proud of the girls’ effort tonight,” Comets coach Charile Brue said. “Both teams were playing their hearts out. It was fun to watch the intensity and competitiveness of two closely matched teams.”
Kelsey Nersten and Laura Tungseth each had a great night scoring as Nersten led the Comets with 19 points, while Tungseth nearly matched her total with 18 of her own.
Ashby’s Madison VanSanten led the team with 19 points, 15 of which came from beyond the arc. Cassandra Jordan was also in double digits for the Arrows with 16 tallies.
