Helen Alma Kreiser, 99, Fergus Falls, died peacefully on Dec. 24, 2013, at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls.
She was one of four children born to Alma and Peter Quande in Sisseton, S.D., on Dec. 4, 1914. She graduated from Sisseton High School and graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College.
She taught at a country school prior to marrying and raising her family.
Helen had many talents. Singing was her passion and she had a beautiful voice. Helen performed at the WDAY radio station and sang with big bands in the 1930s. She was a member of the First Lutheran Choir and performed at Carnegie Hall with the Community Collage Chorale directed be Geneva Eschweiler.
Helen and Harry were active participants in the “Safari Club International” of Minneapolis.
She accompanied her husband on African safaris where her name ended up in the Big Game World Book of Records for her leopard.
Helen and Harry were long-time members of Interlachen Country Club, and she was also a member of PEO Chapter DU. She had a love for gardening and the outdoors.
She was dedicated mother, wife and grandmother and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her gentle kind ways.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry D. Kreiser Jr.; a daughter, Helen Diane Witta; a twin brother, Harold Quande; a brother Kenneth Quande;a sister Marion Elizabeth Quande; and a great-grandson, Derek Dorholt.
Helen’s family includes her sons, Dr. Robert (Karen) Kreiser of Erhard, and Tom (Karen) Kreiser of Beloit, Wis.; a daughter, Linda (Bob) Stevenson of Minnetonka; 11 grandchildren, Kathleen Witta, Jay (Sara) Witta, Dana Covietz, Kelly (David) Dorholt, Ken (Jodi) Kreiser, Daniel Kreiser, Michael Kreiser, Matthew Kreiser, Beth (Jim) Ginther, Scott (Jenny) Stevenson, and Tim (Marti) Stevenson; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at PioneerCare Chapel
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, at PioneerCare Center Celebration Chape, Fergus Falls
