Published 10:05am Wednesday, December 11, 2013

A combined 34 points night from Elizabeth Vinson (17) and Emily Friedrich (17) put the Brandon-Evansville Chargers girls basketball team past the Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Comets 55-33 on Tuesday night.

“The Brandon-Evansville girls were more physical than we were on the boards. They also shot very well,” Comet coach Charlie Brue said following the game. “Our girls played hard and showed some bright spots, but we have our work cut out for us in this conference.”

The Chargers out-rebounded the Comets 18-12.

Megan Aasness led the Comets with 12 points. Kelsey Nersten had eight.

With the win, the Chargers move to 2-1. Brandon-Evansville hosts Lake Park-Audubon at 7 p.m. on Monday. The Comets are back in action on Thursday when it hosts the Ashby Arrows at 7:30 p.m.
