Cris Oehler has been selected to serve in a dual role as vice president, corporate communication, Otter Tail Corporation, reporting to corporate president and CEO Jim McIntyre, and as vice president, public relations, Otter Tail Power Company, reporting to utility president and CEO Chuck MacFarlane.
In this role, effective Jan. 1, 2014, Oehler will handle internal and external communication, including media relations, for both entities.
“I am confident that she will do well in this expanded role and look forward to working with her and her staff,” said McIntyre.
MacFarlane concurred. “In her capacity with Otter Tail Power Company, she has been involved with all facets of our operation and has nearly 20 years of experience providing communication support for complex projects with multiple audiences.”
A Devils Lake, N.D., native, she earned her bachelor of science degree in English and education from Minnesota State University Moorhead, graduating summa cum laude, later earning her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul.
Oehler worked as an educator in the Fergus Falls public school system before joining Otter Tail Power Company in 1994, as a communication specialist in the public relations department, becoming supervisor, manager, and eventually director. She has served in that capacity since 2002.
Oehler lives with her family in rural Fergus Falls.
