Please be safe on holiday [UPDATED]

Published 3:58am Monday, December 30, 2013 Updated 5:58am Monday, December 30, 2013

The upcoming New Year’s holiday is a time for celebration. And with many bars and restaurants in Fergus Falls planning special promotions and events for the holiday — particularly on New Year’s Day in Fergus Falls — local residents certainly are encouraged to partake and celebrate.

That said, it is important that those who decide to drink alcohol over the New Year’s holiday have a plan to avoid drinking and driving.

Alcohol is a factor in far too many traffic deaths.

There are several options available this year. Several cab services are available for New Year’s revelers — City Cab, A-1 Wayne’s City Shuttle and Fergus Cab.

Otherwise, get a designated driver, find someone who isn’t celebrating to bring you home, or stay at a friend’s house.

Whatever you do over the New Year’s holiday, have a good time, and most of all, be safe, and make sure others are safe as well.
