Warriors crush Otters 7-0

Published 9:37am Friday, December 20, 2013

The Brainerd Warriors left no doubt about their abilities on the ice Thursday night. Visiting the Community Arena in Fergus Falls, the Warriors downed the Fergus Falls boys hockey team 7-0, dominating the game by controlling the puck.

“Brainerd was faster, they won all the puck races,” Otter head coach Mike Donaghue said after the game. “They just made all the plays with the puck. When you have the puck, it’s pretty easy to play.”

The Warrior’s game of keep away showed in the game’s final box score, as Brainerd finished the game with 55 shots on goal. The Otters only managed 16.

The Otters continue to battle with a youthful team that is also dealing with injuries. Despite the loss, Donaghue said the high level of play was a good learning experience for the young team as it moves forward.

Fergus Falls moves to 5-5 on the season. The Otters host New Ulm on Dec. 26 to kick off its home holiday tournament.
