COON RAPIDS — In a women’s/men’s doubleheader, the hosting Anoka-Ramsey Golden Rams swept the visiting M State Spartans Saturday.
In the women’s game, the No. 6 ranked Rams were able to drive past the Spartans for a 86-55 win.
The Spartans held an early 15-14 lead, but saw Anoka-Ramsey go on a run that put the game 40-20, in favor of the home team, at the break.
The Rams hit cruise control in the second half as it claimed a MCAC victory.
Donna Ripplinger recorded a double-double for the M State women scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 boards. Teammate Samantha Zastrow was also in double figures with 10 points.
Anoka-Ramsey saw five players in double digits with Olivia Antilla leading the way with 22 points.
The M State men’s team provided the offense in its game, but the result was the same as the No. 9 ranked Anoka-Ramsey men took a 83-71 win.
The Rams were on target from the field as it finished the game with 52 percent shooting and made 12-of-22 three-pointers.
The Spartans saw four players in double figures with J.J. Morris leading the pack with 18. Teammates Cole Riley (17), Thomas Ford (13) and Ja’Vonte Johnson (12) were the other double digit scorers.
Both Spartan teams will look to find its focus Wednesday as the teams host Western Wisconsin Tech. The women’s game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start time, while the men will follow at 8 p.m.
