Comets streak past Arrows [UPDATED]Published 9:37am Wednesday, January 22, 2014 Updated 9:37am Wednesday, January 22, 2014
The Hillcrest boys basketball walked off the court Tuesday with its 10th win in convincing fashion as it defeated Little Eight Conference rival Ashby 64-32.
“Our aggressiveness defensively put us off to a great start tonight,” Comets’ head coach Gregg Preston said after the game. “On both ends of the floor, we went really hard to the glass and rand the floor really well.”
Daniel Nersten continues to lead the Comet shooters, scoring 27 points. Teammate Jake Isaac also had a great night from the field scoring 21 points.
“After a loss like that there is not a whole lot to say,” Arrows’ coach Jeremy Knick said. “They outworked us in every aspect of the game. That’s the disappointing part, not that we lost, but that we didn’t give it our best.”
Ashby was led by Morgan Wing with 11 points. Teammate Blake Ohren chipped in 10 tallies and three blocks.
The Comets will travel to Rothsay for a 7:30 p.m. LEC tilt Thursday, while the Arrows will hit the road to take on Browerville at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
